Probiotics and CFUs

I'm enjoying Elixa's recent surge in video production.  While the term "CFU" is a household word to us old-timers, I still get several emails a month from people asking about probiotics and what CFU means.

Listen as Karl Seddon, CEO of Elixa, explains about CFUs...

I've had my eye on Elixa for several years now.  I chat frequently with Karl and have it on good authority that he's working madly behind the scenes to release some new products.  Karl just sort of appeared one day on Richard Nikoley's Free the Animal fact, here was my first introduction to Karl Seddon:  FODMAP Prebiotic Arms Dealing, Probiotic Mercenaries, and Uganda.  Search the site for dozens more articles about Karl and Elixa.

Bottom-line, though. I've been studying gut bacteria and probiotics for seven or eight years now. There is a lot of crap on the market. Most probiotic sellers are just after a quick buck, mass producing anything that can be legally marketed as a probiotic and then dumping lots of money on advertising.

Whether you consider me an expert or not, most probiotics are not worth buying.  Eat sauerkraut or drink some kombucha and you'll be miles ahead.  There are lots of real foods with probiotic value.  But sometimes it's wise to take a probiotic supplement.  Before, during, and after antibiotics, for instance. After a colonoscopy.  When traveling to foreign countries.  Chris Kresser even has some other unique ideas!

Take-home:  If I did not fully, 100% believe that Elixa was the best probiotic out there, I would not be putting these videos up.  This is the ONLY probiotic that I recommend.
